Certified Nurse Midwifery

What are Certified Nurse Midwives?
Certified Nurse Midwives, CNM’s are licensed health care practitioners educated in two disciplines; advanced practice Nursing and Midwifery. Each CNM is required to pass strict educational guidelines in order to be certified by the American College of Nurse-Midwives and licensed to practice in their state. Over 70% of CNM’s hold a masters degree in nursing as well as a specialized education in midwifery.
Philosophy of CNM’s
Throughout history, the word midwife has been used to describe women who are “with women” at birth. CNM’s focus on the needs of the individual and family for their physical care, as well as emotional and social support. We view birth as a natural process which often required no intervention, though we understand that in some situations the use of technology may offer safer options in a safe birth for both the mother and the neonate.
What to expect from Pam and Ronda
Ronda and Pam work in close collaboration in a team approach in midwifery care for their patients. They share call equally so you can usually be sure of having a known and trusted provider at your birth.
Your prenatal care will be balanced between both providers so you will get to know them both and they will each be up to date with your pregnancy care needs.
